Trees of the Week (2/7/2022-2/13/2022)

Miscellaneous

Preface

NY was delighted with the warmth on this weekend, but it started to snow from midnight on Saturday and I decided to postpone my scheduled visit to the New York Botanical Garden on Sunday.

It’s been a while since my last post, but I’ll resume the trees of the week for the first time in a while!

News

NYS Lifted the Obligation to Wear a Mask Indoors Although NYC Continues

Governor Kathy Hochul of New York has announced that the obligation to wear a mask indoors, which had been mandatory since December 10, will be lifted on February 10.

However, in New York City, including Manhattan, vaccination certification is still required at indoor restaurants, event venues, gyms, movie theaters, and other indoor facilities, and the situation. We are awaiting the mayor’s decision.

NYC Selected as the Most Stressful City in the United States

According to a survey conducted by insurance company William Russel, New York City has been selected as the most stressful city in the United States.

The survey mainly covers living expenses, city hygiene, tolerance to LGBTQ, suicide rate, and the number of poor people. While NYC has excellent record of tolerance to LGBTQ and the number of poor people, it showed very poor data on suicide rates, living expenses and hygiene, resulting in being selected as the most stressful city in the United States.

Among the world’s most famous cities, Cairo in Egypt, Deli in India, and Karachi in Pakistan shined (?) in the worst Top 3, and New York City was ranked 30th.

By the way, Tokyo was surprisingly selected as the 29th place, which is even more stressful than New York City, and the main reason seems to be that the tolerance to LGBTQ is extremely low.

However, I am very convinced that Tokyo’s hygiene management situation is second best in the world, only after Zurich in Switzerland.

Souta Fujii Achieved the First Five Titles in History as a Teenager

On February 12, Souta Fujii defeated Osho Watanabe, winning his first title with four consecutive victories and achieving the five titles.

It seems like there isn’t much positive news these days, but it’s exciting to see such a bright topic. I hope Mr. Souta Fujii will continue to set unprecedented records in the future!

Pick-up

This week’s pick up will be suspended.

Gadget/Lifehacks

This week’s gadget/lifehacks will be suspended.

Personal Finance

The US market has had very bad overall results this year so far, and S&P is still on a downtrend, temporarily below the 200-day moving average, which shows a long-term trend.

It’s been a while since the last updated article, but I will write all the grades as memorandums and lessons for myself.

The profitable results of individual stocks are as follows.

  • AOSL: 23.71%
  • BLDR: 8.43%
  • CUBI: (6.75)%
  • DHI: (6.81)%
  • MATX: (6.70)%
  • STZ: (6.95)%
  • VSTO: (7.69)%

The followings are the stocks in possession.

After reviewing it, I felt that it would be better to make the stop-loss timing earlier, considering the current market conditions.

Next week, I will focus on BTI, DAC, and HAL, and I would like to purchase them at the right time.

Shop/Restaurant

Empire Steak House

The restaurant introduced this week is a steakhouse, Empire Steak House!

Until recently, Restaurant Week was held in New York City, so as a steak lover, I visited several steakhouses during the Restaurant Week.

Empire Steak House is definitely one of the top three steak houses, including customer service and food quality!

I ordered a special restaurant week menu with Fresh Oysters on Half Shell as an appetizer, New York Sirloin Steak as a main course, and Ice Cream as a dessert.

When I order steak, I usually order Creamed Spinach almost every time, but this time it wasn’t included in the Restaurant Week menu, so I ordered Oyster instead.

It was my first combination of steak and oyster, but when I experienced it, I was quite satisfied.

The oysters eaten before the main steak were very light and delicious, and it served as a great appetizer.

The sauce attached to the oysters is also very delicious, and I have used it as an appetizer bread dip! lol

I usually order Prime Rib for steaks, but the New York Sirloin Steak at Empire Steak House was just as good as it was.

When the floor manager noticed that I am Japanese, he kindly served me in Japanese, which made me feel relaxed.
