Preface
How did you all spend these last two weeks?
This time, I wrote for two weeks together because of the holidays related to Thanksgivings.
I went on a trip because it was my first holiday in a long time, but unfortunately I broke my mobile phone at the destination. I tried to access my Gmail account from the hotel PC, but due to security reasons, I could not access it unless my mobile phone was working, so I had a really hard time to check the time of the return flight and arrange a taxi from the hotel. I had to devise it.
It’s a pity that I broke my mobile phone, but the content of the trip was very satisfying and I was able to enjoy the emerald green ocean and the beautiful starry sky.
It was time to change my mobile phone anyway, so I’m optimistic.
However, when I went to the blog management site, I was very scared because I couldn’t access by 2-step verification which also requires my old phone.
I managed to solve it, so I saved the article I referred to to Evernote as quickly as possible.
Well, the preface has become too long, but this time I will provide the tree topics as usual!
News
Target of COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Expanded to 18 Years Old and Over
On November 19, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it would extend the coverage of the COVID-19 vaccine booster in the United States to all adults over the age of 18.
According to the FDA, if more than 6 months have passed since the second dose of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, you will be able to receive a third booster dose.
In fact, booster vaccination for all adults across the United States requires FDA approval followed by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approval, but NYC is one of the first to provide booster vaccination to all adults.
I am planning to receive a booster vaccination at a nearby pharmacy in early December.
The vaccination rate in the United States is 59.63% of the total population as of November 18, which is much lower than the vaccination rate of 75.97% in Japan.
Some people in Japan avoid vaccination for various reasons, but it seems that the ratio is higher in the United States even though they are vaccine providers.
Trial Deployment of Police on the Bus
The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced on the 17th that it will deploy more police officers on the bus on a trial basis.
This attempt seems to be aimed at providing safety, aiming for the return of bus users, and preventing omission of fare collection.
Certainly, we often see people getting on from the rear door and getting on for free, so it may be necessary to take such a method to maintain fairness.
Amazon to Suspend Visa Card Issued in the UK
It seems that Amazon.com will suspend Visa credit cards issued in the UK from January 19, 2022.
Amazon explained that the reason for the suspension was high fees, and it seems that Visa’s stock price in the US stock market was affected by this news.
Amazon’s Prime member Credit Card in the United States is provided by Visa, but Amazon recently announced that Venmo payment will also be available from 2022, so I wonder the future impact and flow.

Gadget/Lifehacks
World Maker
Have you ever aspired to be a manga artist?
When I was young, I was aspired but desperately bad at painting, so I gave up immediately.
That’s a long way from writing manga, but I recently learned that there is an awesome tool!
The service is provided by Shueisha, which is familiar with the famous Weekly Shonen Jump, and its name is World Maker!
You can use this site by accessing it from your smartphone. With this service, if you prepare the lines and the script yourself, you can create the name of the manga (rough including the lines and composition) without having to write any pictures yourself!
The completed name can be published on SNS etc., so please use this service as if you were a manga artist!
Personal Finance
In the last two weeks, like symbolizing the bad luck of my private life, the personal finance results have been extremely volatile.
Furthermore, just before the start of the holiday, the stock prices were significantly lowered, and the unrealized loss increased, so it was two weeks of stepping and kicking.
The realized results of individual stocks are as follows.
- CUBI: (3.73)%
- CLFD: 4.95%
- MLI: 15.22%
- PTSI: (6.63)%
- WIRE: 3.27%
Here are my holdings:
The above stocks are likely to rebound and increase in price, but I plan to sell them mechanically to prevent the unrealized loss from swelling.
Shop/Restaurant
Sarashina Horii
I would like to introduce Sarashina Horii’s New York branch this week.
I ordered Sarashina soba with tempura!
As it is a long-established restaurant, the quality of soba was excellent!!
After the meal, I had soba hot water (sobayu), and the customer service was very satisfying.
I used to live in Azabujuban when I was working in Japa where the headquarters of Sarashina Horii is, and I have been to the store a few times.
The quality of the New York branch is definitely comparable to that of the headquarters, so if you miss soba in New York, please enjoy authentic soba at Sarashina Horii!
Sarashina Horii 45 E 20th St, New York, NY 10003 Mon-Tue Closed Wed-Thu 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM Fri 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM Sat-Sun 5:00 AM - 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Postscript
For the past two weeks, I’ve had a lot of fluttering days, and I’ve begun to experience the busiest time of the year ahead of time.
The breakage of my cell phone made me realize how much my life depends on one cell phone.
However, I bought a new iPhone and the performance of the camera has improved considerably, so I’m looking forward to uploading photos to Instagram!
If possible, I would like to spend a calm week next week.
It was very cold with the first snow in New York on Sunday, but please do your best not to catch a cold!!
