Have you already taken the COVID-19 vaccine?

This article writes about my vaccination experience and vaccine passport.

Vaccination Experience

Vaccination has not progressed much in Japan yet, but many people have taken their vaccination in the United States already.

I also recently had a vaccine shot made by Pfizer at a pharmacy. I don’t like injections that much, but I was prepared for pain because I heard that it would be a muscle injection.

On the day, when I showed my reservation slip at the reception desk of the pharmacy, I was guided to the place where a doctor was. After providing a brief explanation, he asked me which arm I wanted to be injected. I’m right-handed, so I asked for an injection in my left shoulder. I didn’t want to see the needle sticking, so I looked away from the needle. In a few seconds, I heard my doctor say, “Yes, it’s over.” As a matter of fact, there was no pain at all so that I did not know when the injection was given, and I was half-doubted that I had really been injected. After getting the shot, I was instructed to wait 15 minutes at a different place to see the progress. However, in less than 5 minutes, I was told that I could go home. This is America, isn’t it?

In my case, there was no side effect probably because it was the first injection, but I had pain like muscle pain for a few days after the shot. I have heard that side effects tend to come out when I take the second injection, so I’m a little bit worried. After the second shot, I will post the result report.

P.S.

I finally received a second shot the other day. On the day of the injection, there was only pain like muscle pain on my shoulder where shot was taken and there were no side effect, but the next day, my body was dull and weak all day long like when I had a cold, and no matter how much water I took, my throat became dry. However, the side effects lasted only for one day, and the next day and beyond, I was completely fine!

Vaccine Passport

On April 6, 2021, the U.S. government announced that it would not introduce a vaccine passport, a certificate of completion of COVID-19 vaccination, at the federal level. On the other hand, at state and local and the corporate level such as airlines, it seems that more and more they will introduce their own passports in the future.

In New York, the first vaccine passport in the U.S. called Excelsior Pass was introduced.

Excelsior Pass

COVID-19

Excelsior Pass is an application that proves the status of vaccine intake and the history of testing for COVID-19, and if the issuance conditions are met, a certificate with a QR code is issued by entering your information on the above website.

Excelsior Pass has already been adopted by some sports events, and it seems that it is going to be used to major stadiums, arenas, concert venues, art and entertainment facilities, restaurants, bars, etc. in the future.

Vaccine Passport Scam

While the state has introduced formal vaccine passport, scammers are trying to steal personal information by creating fake apps.

Here are some tips to avoid vaccine passport fraud:

  • Consider all passports saying that they are issued by the U.S. government as fraudulent at this time (as of April 2021).
  • Please confirm the vaccine passport provided by the airline or other company directly with the company before using it.
  • When you click on a vaccine passport link, make sure it is safe and legitimate.
  • Don’t upload your personal information, such as vaccination cards, to social media.
