Well, I would like to introduce the news that I was personally interested in this week.
Crypto Asset Exchange Giant Binance Banned from Business in UK
On June 26, the FCA, the UK’s financial authority, announced that Binance, a major crypto-asset exchange represented by Chinese-Canadian Changpeng Zhao, would be banned from operating in the country, on the back of an unauthorized operation in the UK.
Binance, on the other hand, believes that it is a subsidiary that has been regulated by the financial authorities and that it will continue to provide services to UK residents.
Binance was just warned by Japan’s Financial Services Agency on June 25 as a “unregistered crypto asset exchange business” as well.
Recently, the cryptocurrency market has completely fallen, and the energy has disappeared, but this news may spur the drop.
Personally, I think the cryptocurrency market will revive again in a few months or years (especially around the time Diem comes to market), so I think it would be better to increase the number of currencies by dispersing while watching the situation now.
Odaiba’s Oedo Onsen Story Closes in September
It was announced that the Oedo Onsen Story, a natural spring amusement place of relaxation for Tokyo residents and other people who go to Odaiba, will close in September this year.
The deadline for contracts signed with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government before opening was until December 2021, and Oedo Onsen Story Hotels & Resorts considered various measures to continue operations, but it seems that the leased land lease law at that time did not allow extension of the contract for more than 20 years, and re-contract was not possible.
It is necessary for them to dismantle and remove the building by the contract deadline and return the land, so they are going to close in September to return the land on time.
When I was in Japan, I visited there several times, so I am going to miss one of the memories.
There is a hot natural spring facility that I visit locally in Japan, and there is an open-air hot spring bath that I can laydown and sleep, so it is one of the pleasures when I return to Japan.
I may not have a chance to visit Oedo Onsen Story anymore, but by all means, I really hope that the local hot spring facility continues to operate in my life time.
There seems to be only one facility like a hot natural spring facility in Manhattan, but I haven’t been there yet, so I would like to go there when time comes.
Windows 11 Release
On June 24, Microsoft announced the latest version of the Windows OS, Windows 11.
The official release is expected to be by the end of 2021, and the windows insider program, which offers the preview version, will be available from the week of June 28.
The good news is that Windows 10 users will be able to update to Windows 11 free of charge from 2022 as long as they meet the operating requirements.
A feature I personally expect is the improved usability of two or more monitors, the so-called multi-display environment.
In current Windows 10, when using a multi-display, if you leave it for a while and go to sleep, open programs and tabs may move to a different part of the screen, or windows on other screens may be packed into one display.
However, windows 11 seems to add some new features to the display settings, reducing the stress of desktop relocation.
Food Report: Tavferna Kyclades
This week, I am introducing a Greek restaurant, Tavferna Kyclades.
The dish I ordered this time were oysters and a grilled fish dish of Mediterranean Dorata.
First of all, the appetizer came out with bread soaked with olive oil, which is familiar in Greek cuisine, but it was very delicious.
Oysters came with ketchup and a unique sauce, but I squeezed lemon and had it without sauce as I wanted something refreshing.
For the main grilled fish dish, I asked for a Greek lemon potato as a side dish. A single dish of grilled fish that I ate for the first time in a long time! The volume was solid, and my stomach was filled with great satisfaction.
Finally, I had Galaktoboureko, a Greek dessert that means milk pie for dessert.
When it comes to fish dishes in the U.S., I’m more likely to rely on Japanese restaurants, but now I want to include Greek restaurant on my list.
