This week has been another busy week at work, but things are finally starting to settle down as the second half of the week progresses.
Now, as usual, I would like to share with you some news that caught my personal attention this week.
Face Pass Boarding at Airports
On July 19, Narita and Haneda airports began full-scale operation of Face Express, a facial recognition system that allows passengers to register their photo upon arrival at the airport and pass through baggage check-in, security and boarding gates without having to present their passports or boarding passes.
The introduction of this system is expected to shorten the boarding process and reduce the risk of infection by the COVID-19.
The Face Express system uses automated check-in kiosks equipped with face recognition technology to take a picture of the passenger’s face and link it to the boarding pass and passport information.
Passengers do not need to present their boarding passes or passports when passing through security gates, and they can pass through the gates without stopping.
Blue Origin’s First Human Space Flight
On July 20, Blue Origin, a private space company founded by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, successfully launched a spacecraft carrying four people, including himself, on its own rocket for the world’s first space trip with customers on board.
Blue Origin’s spacecraft is divided into a “capsule” and a “rocket”.
The participants board the capsule and head for space. After launch, the capsule and the rocket separate at an altitude of around 100 km, and the capsule enters a state of weightlessness for about five minutes, after which the capsule opens its parachute and lands on the ground. The rocket will return to the Earth in a vertical position and land directly on the ground.
Food Report：Sushi Yasaka
This week I would like to introduce Sushi Yasaka in Upper West.
I ordered the Sushi Deluxe set with an extra order of sea urchin.
All of the ingredients were delicious, but the sea urchin was particularly impressive and I finished it in no time.
The prices are relatively reasonable for a sushi restaurant of this quality, and I highly recommend this place.
